Description
The Yale YFS Flat Hydraulic Cylinder range is engineered for applications where available space is extremely limited but high lifting force is still required. With an exceptionally low closed height and compact footprint, YFS cylinders are the ideal solution for lifting, pushing, levelling and positioning tasks in confined or restricted working environments.
Designed for professional operation, Yale YFS cylinders incorporate the proven Yale Chro-Mo-Design, using solid chromium-molybdenum steel for both the cylinder body and piston. All critical components are heat-treated to provide superior strength, resistance to deformation and long-term durability under high-pressure conditions.
Operating at a maximum pressure of 700 bar, the YFS series offers lifting capacities from 10 tonnes up to 100 tonnes, making it suitable for heavy-duty industrial maintenance, civil engineering, offshore operations, power plants and steel fabrication environments. These flat cylinders are particularly effective where standard or even low-height cylinders cannot be accommodated due to height restrictions.
Each YFS cylinder is single-acting with spring return, enabling quick and reliable piston retraction without the need for a second hydraulic line. This simple configuration improves ease of use on site, reduces hose clutter and supports faster setup times during time-critical lifting or positioning operations.
Despite their compact size, Yale YFS cylinders are built with safety as a priority. A high-strength stop ring is designed to withstand the full rated load at maximum operating pressure, preventing over-stroking and enhancing operational safety. An integrated dirt wiper protects internal seals and sliding surfaces from dust, debris and contaminants, helping to maintain consistent performance in harsh industrial conditions.
Due to their very short stroke and flat design, YFS cylinders are intended strictly for axial loading. Side loading must be avoided, as flat cylinders are optimised for vertical force transmission in tight spaces rather than lateral load tolerance. When used correctly, they provide smooth, controlled lifting with excellent stability.
All Yale YFS flat cylinders are supplied ready to use, including a female coupler half CFY-1 with dust cap, allowing immediate connection to compatible Yale hydraulic pumps. For improved handling and portability, the YFS-100/15 model is equipped with a carrying handle, making it easier to transport and position safely on site.
Thanks to their minimal height, robust construction and high load capacity, Yale YFS flat hydraulic cylinders are widely used for machinery lifting, structural alignment, equipment maintenance and emergency lifting tasks where access is severely restricted and reliability is critical.
Safety & User Instructions
Never exceed the stated load capacity or maximum pressure of 700 bar.
Apply load centrally; YFS flat cylinders must not be subjected to side loading.
Ensure the supporting surface is stable and capable of bearing the applied load.
Keep piston and contact surfaces clean to prevent seal damage.
Inspect hydraulic connections, seals and couplers before use.
Use only compatible Yale hydraulic pumps and accessories.
Always follow site safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
