Description
The Yale YLS Low-Height Hydraulic Cylinder range is purpose-built for demanding lifting, pushing and levelling tasks where space is severely restricted. Designed for professional use across heavy industry, civil engineering and maintenance environments, these compact cylinders deliver high force output without compromising safety, durability or control.
Featuring Yale?s proven Chro-Mo-Design, YLS cylinders are manufactured from solid chromium-molybdenum steel and fully heat-treated to ensure exceptional strength, fatigue resistance and long service life. This premium base material is essential in hydraulic tools that must perform reliably under extreme pressure and repeated load cycles.
Operating at a maximum pressure of 700 bar, the YLS series offers lifting capacities from 10 tonnes up to 100 tonnes, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including machinery positioning, structural levelling, pressing operations and general maintenance work. Thanks to their low closed height, these cylinders are particularly effective in tight working areas where standard hydraulic cylinders cannot be installed.
Each YLS cylinder is single-acting with spring return, allowing fast and controlled retraction without additional hydraulic lines. The simple one-hose connection improves usability on site and reduces setup time, especially in temporary lifting or service operations.
Safety and reliability are core to the YLS design. A high-strength stop ring is engineered to carry the full rated load even at maximum operating pressure, preventing piston over-stroking and enhancing operator safety. An integrated dirt wiper protects internal components from dust and debris, ensuring consistent performance even in harsh industrial environments.
While extremely robust, YLS cylinders are designed specifically for axial loading. Due to their short stroke and compact design, side loading should be avoided. When used correctly, the cylinder?s precision-machined piston and housing provide smooth, predictable lifting and pressing performance.
Supplied ready to use, every Yale YLS low-height cylinder includes a female coupler half CFY-1 with dust cap, allowing immediate connection to compatible Yale hydraulic pumps. Larger models, such as the YLS-100/55, are equipped with lifting rings to improve handling and on-site safety during positioning and transport.
With their combination of minimal height, high lifting force and professional-grade materials, Yale YLS hydraulic cylinders are widely used across steel mills, heavy construction, power generation, offshore installations and industrial maintenance operations where reliability and compactness are critical.
Safety & User Instructions
Do not exceed the rated capacity or maximum operating pressure of 700 bar.
Ensure the load is applied centrally; YLS cylinders must not be subjected to side loading.
Always use a suitable base and stable surface before pressurising the cylinder.
Keep piston surfaces clean to avoid seal damage and premature wear.
Inspect couplers, seals and hydraulic connections regularly.
Use only compatible Yale hydraulic pumps and accessories.
Follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
