Description
Yale YBA Spring Balancers are designed for applications where enhanced operator safety is essential. Built on the same technical platform as the YBF series, the YBA range incorporates an additional safety mechanism that activates automatically in the event of rope breakage, hook failure or accidental load dislodgement.
This safety device instantly locks the rope, preventing uncontrolled retraction and eliminating dangerous rope whipping that could cause injury to operators or nearby personnel. As a result, YBA spring balancers are particularly suited to harsh environments where flying sparks, heat or abrasive conditions may damage the rope.
The YBA housing is manufactured from high-tensile aluminium pressure die casting and designed to DIN 15112. The internal tapered rope drum ensures consistent load compensation across the working range, allowing tools to be moved smoothly and positioned accurately.
All models above 5kg feature a spring assembly housed as a separate enclosed steel unit, improving safety during maintenance and reducing handling risks. A manual drum lock allows secure rope exchange and load changes, while a dedicated access slot enables wire rope replacement without dismantling the unit.
Wear-resistant nylon rope guides reduce wear and extend service life. Load indicators are fitted to selected models, allowing easy reading of the capacity setting. Upper and lower suspension eyes are provided for attaching secondary safety chains.
Typical applications include spot-welding guns, riveting machines, nut-runner systems and industrial tools used in high-risk environments.
