Description
The Yale YCS Hollow Hydraulic Cylinder range is specifically engineered for applications requiring high pulling forces, precision control and maximum reliability. Featuring a large centre hole design, these professional-grade hydraulic cylinders allow threaded rods to pass directly through the piston, enabling the generation of extremely high tensile forces that cannot be achieved with standard solid cylinders.
Built for demanding industrial environments, Yale YCS cylinders utilise the proven Yale Chro-Mo-Design, with both the cylinder body and piston manufactured from solid chromium-molybdenum steel and fully heat-treated. This ensures exceptional strength, resistance to deformation and long service life even under repeated high-load cycles.
Operating at a maximum working pressure of 700 bar, the YCS series covers a wide capacity range from 12 tonnes to 93 tonnes, making it suitable for heavy-duty pulling, prestressing and extraction applications. Hollow hydraulic cylinders are commonly used as the power component in hydraulic puller systems, as well as for prestressing anchor bolts, removing axles, shafts and bushings, extracting tubes and performing structural tensioning tasks.
Thanks to the hollow piston design, YCS cylinders can be combined with long threaded rods and repositioned nuts to achieve large pulling distances, even when using relatively short cylinder strokes. This makes them particularly effective in repair, maintenance and assembly operations where controlled force and extended pulling travel are required.
Each cylinder is single-acting with spring return, providing reliable and automatic piston retraction while keeping hydraulic connections simple with a single hose. A hard chromium-plated piston offers excellent protection against corrosion and mechanical damage, while also delivering smooth sliding performance. The piston is fitted with a replaceable, heat-treated hardened saddle, allowing easy adaptation to different pulling or pressing setups.
Safety is integral to the YCS design. A high-strength stop ring prevents piston overtravel and is engineered to withstand full operating pressure, protecting both the cylinder and operator. Inner and outer dirt wipers shield seals and internal components from contamination, ensuring consistent performance in harsh workshop and site conditions.
For flexible installation, metric mounting threads are provided on the cylinder body and inside the piston, allowing secure integration into puller frames, test rigs and custom fixtures. All cylinders are supplied ready to use, including a female coupler half CFY-1 with dust cap for immediate connection to compatible Yale hydraulic pumps. Larger models feature carrying handles or lifting rings to improve handling safety and portability on site.
With their combination of hollow piston design, high force output and rugged construction, Yale YCS hollow hydraulic cylinders are the preferred choice for industrial pulling, prestressing and heavy-duty maintenance applications.
Safety & User Instructions
Do not exceed the rated capacity or maximum operating pressure of 700 bar.
Ensure threaded rods, nuts and accessories are correctly rated and securely installed.
Apply force axially and avoid side loading of the piston and threaded rod.
Inspect seals, couplers and threaded components before each use.
Keep piston surfaces and centre hole clean to prevent seal damage.
Use only compatible Yale hydraulic pumps and approved accessories.
Always follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
