Description
The Yale Pneumatic Chain Hoist CPA series delivers reliable, durable and high-performance lifting for demanding industrial environments. Built for continuous operation, these air-powered chain hoists are ideal for heavy-duty material handling in manufacturing, shipbuilding, refineries, construction, foundries, power plants and more.
Pneumatic chain hoists are particularly valued for their robustness, lightweight housing and ability to withstand harsh conditions where electric hoists may not be suitable. The CPA range features a rotating piston motor with a 100% duty rating, allowing unlimited starts and continuous operation without overheating. The result is a dependable lifting solution for repetitive, high-frequency use.
Each CPA model is fitted with integrated limit switches as standard to control the highest and lowest hook positions, preventing over-travel and enhancing operator safety. The hoists also feature a self-adjusting automatic disc brake that provides secure load holding and smooth stopping, while the sensitive control system with emergency stop enables precise load positioning during lifting and lowering.
The CPA range includes the following models:
CPA 1-13 ? 125kg capacity, 1 chain fall, lifting speed 13.1m/min
CPA 2-10 ? 250kg capacity, 1 chain fall, lifting speed 9.8m/min
CPA 5-5 ? 500kg capacity, 2 chain falls, lifting speed 4.6m/min
CPA 10-9 ? 980kg capacity, 2 chain falls, lifting speed 8.5m/min
Each model is supplied with a suspension hook and is designed for 6 bar operating pressure. The CPA 10-9 features air release for the brake as standard and uses a 6.3 x 19.5mm chain dimension for higher capacity applications.
The hoists are compatible with optional trolleys for horizontal load movement, chain containers for safe chain storage, and maintenance units that include pressure regulator, manometer and lubricator to ensure a clean and lubricated air supply.
These hoists are also suitable for use with nitrogen and can be configured in an explosion-proof version, making them appropriate for hazardous areas when required. However, Yale hoists and trolleys are not designed for passenger elevation and must not be used for lifting personnel.
Safety / User Instructions
Ensure the pneumatic hoist is installed and operated by trained, competent personnel.
Verify the rated load capacity of the selected CPA model before lifting. Do not exceed the stated WLL.
Confirm the compressed air supply is clean, filtered and oiled to ensure fault-free operation.
Use only in accordance with applicable UK health and safety regulations, including PUWER and LOLER where relevant.
Inspect the load chain, suspension hook, control hose and brake system before each use.
Check that the limit switches operate correctly and stop the hoist at the upper and lower positions.
Always ensure the load is stable, properly rigged and correctly centred before lifting.
Do not use the hoist for passenger lifting or any application other than approved industrial lifting.
Maintain a safe working area under the load and never stand beneath a suspended load.
Use a maintenance unit (pressure regulator, manometer, lubricator) to protect the hoist from contamination and wear.
