Description

The Pewage KWB Super Alloy SA Grade 8 Lifting Chain is a high-strength alloy steel chain designed for the assembly of lifting chain slings used in industrial lifting, load handling and transport applications. Manufactured in accordance with EN 818-2, this chain delivers reliable performance, consistent load ratings and full compliance with European lifting regulations.

Super Alloy SA lifting chains are engineered for longitudinal load application, ensuring that each chain link aligns freely with the direction of force during lifting. This design minimises bending stresses and contributes to a high level of operational safety when used correctly. With a minimum safety factor of 4:1 and a static test coefficient of 2.5, the chain offers dependable strength reserves for demanding lifting environments.

Available in nominal sizes from 6 mm up to 64 mm, Super Alloy SA chain covers a broad range of working load limits, making it suitable for both light and heavy lifting assemblies. The chain can be combined with compatible Grade 8 components, including master links, connecting links, hooks and clevis fittings, to create complete lifting slings tailored to specific applications.

The chain is suitable for operation within an ambient temperature range of -40 °C to +200 °C without reduction in capacity. Where elevated temperatures or severe conditions occur, clearly defined reduction factors must be applied to maintain safe working loads. Shock loading, edge loading and impact forces must be avoided wherever possible, as these conditions significantly increase stress on the chain and can reduce service life.

Super Alloy SA lifting chain is intended exclusively for industrial lifting and transport tasks and must only be used by trained and competent personnel. It is not designed for use in corrosive environments, explosion-protected areas or applications involving food, pharmaceuticals or hazardous chemicals. The chain must never be knotted, twisted, welded, heat treated or modified, as such actions compromise material integrity and invalidate certification.

Manufactured to meet the requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Super Alloy SA lifting chain is supplied with an operating manual and declaration of incorporation. The manual forms an integral part of the product and must remain available throughout the chain’s service life.

Safety & User Instructions
Lifting chains must only be used by trained and competent personnel.
Always inspect the chain before each use for wear, deformation, cracks or corrosion.
Never exceed the stated working load limit and apply reduction factors where required.
Avoid shock loading, edge loading and asymmetrical loading conditions.
Chain links must align freely with the direction of load during lifting.
Do not use in corrosive or chemically aggressive environments.
Welding, heat treatment, straightening or surface coating is strictly prohibited.
Remove from service immediately if damage, elongation or illegible markings are detected.
Annual inspection by a competent person is mandatory, with more frequent inspections for intensive use.

Maintenance & Storage
Clean regularly and dry after exposure to moisture.
Protect against corrosion with light oiling where required.
Store hanging on racks in a clean, dry environment, away from heat and corrosive substances.
All inspections and repairs must be documented for the duration of the chain’s service life.
