The RUD VLBS-U-LT VIP Weld-On Load Ring has been engineered to deliver safe and dependable lifting performance in extreme cold conditions. Designed as part of RUD?s premium VIP range, the VLBS-U-LT is ideal for applications where conventional lifting points may become brittle or unsafe due to low temperatures.
The VLBS-U-LT has been tested for deep temperature suitability down to ?45?C using a notch bar impact test, confirming its toughness and resistance to brittle fracture in cold environments. This makes it particularly suitable for offshore platforms, cold storage facilities, Arctic and sub-Arctic operations, and winter construction sites.
Like other VLBS-U variants, the suspension ring can be pivoted through 180?, allowing it to align naturally with the direction of load and reducing unwanted side forces. Loads can also be applied safely up to 90? in the load ring plane, providing flexibility for complex rigging configurations. The suspension ring is adjustable to the required position, allowing precise alignment prior to lifting.
The VLBS-U-LT features a captive design, with the suspension ring and weld-on block retained together by a spring mechanism. This prevents component separation during handling and installation, improving safety and ease of use. An integrated clamping spring holds the ring in the desired position when not under load and significantly reduces noise and rattling caused by vibration.
The weld-on block incorporates distance knobs, ensuring the correct spacing for proper root welding. This supports consistent weld quality and ensures the lifting point performs as intended under load. Clear and durable markings indicate the minimum Working Load Limit, enabling quick visual verification during inspections.
For specialist applications, the VLBS system also includes VLBS-P versions for welding onto pipes with diameters ranging from 80 mm to 220 mm, offering additional flexibility for tubular structures and process plant installations.
Designed for permanent installation, the VLBS-U-LT is compatible with all conventional lifting means, including chain slings, wire rope slings, and textile slings.
