Description
The Crosby IPU10 Vertical Plate Lifting Clamp is a high-performance lifting clamp designed for the vertical lifting, turning, moving, and transferring of steel plates, sheet materials, and fabricated components. The clamp is engineered to safely handle materials from horizontal to vertical positions and back to horizontal (180 rotation) during lifting operations.
Constructed with a welded alloy steel body, the clamp provides excellent strength while maintaining a compact design suitable for demanding industrial environments. Forged alloy steel components are used where additional strength is required, ensuring durability and reliable performance under heavy loads.
A key feature of the IPU10 clamp is the hinged hoisting eye, which allows the clamp to lift the load from virtually any direction. This design also enables the use of multi-leg slings without side-loading the clamp, improving safety and flexibility during rigging operations.
The clamp incorporates a lock-open and lock-closed mechanism with latch, allowing the operator to apply pretension to the material before lifting, and to safely release the load once the operation is complete. This mechanism improves control during both attachment and removal of the clamp.
Each clamp is individually proof tested to two times the working load limit and supplied with certification. For identification and safety verification, the Crosby IP logo, working load limit, and jaw opening capacity are permanently stamped on the clamp body.
For full traceability, every unit is individually serialised, with the serial number and proof load test date stamped on the clamp body. Each clamp is supplied with a user manual and proof load test certificate.
The IPU10 clamp is suitable for materials with a surface hardness up to 363HV10 (345 HB). It operates within a wide temperature range of -40C to +100C, making it suitable for a variety of industrial environments.
The clamp range offers working load limits from 0.5 tonnes to 30 tonnes, with various jaw openings to accommodate different plate thicknesses. Maintenance and repair kits are available to ensure long-term reliability and serviceability.
Designed in accordance with EN 13155 and ASME B30.20 design factors, the Crosby IPU10 vertical plate clamp provides a dependable lifting solution for steel fabrication, construction, heavy engineering, and manufacturing industries.
