Description
The Crosby IP10J Vertical Plate Lifting Clamp is a specialised version of the standard IP10 clamp, designed for handling thicker plates and materials requiring a larger jaw opening. Built for strength, reliability, and flexibility, the IP10J clamp is widely used in fabrication workshops, steel processing facilities, and heavy engineering environments.
Constructed with a welded alloy steel body, the clamp delivers exceptional strength while maintaining a compact design suitable for demanding industrial lifting applications. Forged alloy steel components are used where additional strength is required, ensuring long-term durability and dependable performance.
The IP10J model features an extended jaw opening, allowing it to securely grip thicker steel plates compared to standard vertical plate clamps. This makes the clamp particularly useful for handling heavy plate sections used in structural fabrication and industrial manufacturing.
The clamp provides a full 180 turning range, allowing steel plates and fabricated components to be safely lifted from horizontal to vertical positions and returned back to horizontal when required. This capability supports efficient material transfer, rotation, and positioning during fabrication processes.
A lock-open and lock-closed latch mechanism allows the clamp to apply pretension to the material before lifting, ensuring secure engagement and safe load release after the lifting operation is completed.
Each clamp is individually proof tested to two times the working load limit and supplied with certification confirming safe operation. For identification and verification, the Crosby IP logo, working load limit, and jaw opening capacity are permanently stamped on the clamp body.
Every unit is individually serialised, with the serial number and proof load test date stamped directly on the clamp body to provide full traceability. Each clamp is supplied with a user manual and proof load test certificate.
The IP10J clamp range offers working load limits from 0.5 tonnes up to 30 tonnes, making it suitable for lifting a wide variety of thicker plates and fabricated components. Maintenance and repair kits are available to support continued safe operation.
Designed in accordance with EN 13155 and ASME B30.20 design factors, the Crosby IP10J vertical plate lifting clamp provides a dependable lifting solution for heavy-duty plate handling.
Safety & User Instructions
Always verify the working load limit (WLL) before lifting.
Ensure the plate thickness is within the specified jaw opening range.
Confirm the clamp is correctly positioned and securely gripping the plate before lifting.
Do not exceed the rated lifting capacity.
Minimum working load is 5% of maximum WLL for the 0.5t model.
Minimum working load is 10% of maximum WLL for all other models.
For materials with surface hardness up to 279HV10, only 5% of the minimum WLL is required.
Inspect clamps regularly for wear, cracks, or deformation.
Ensure gripping surfaces are clean and free from oil, grease, or debris.
Replace worn parts using approved Crosby maintenance kits.
Always follow safe lifting procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
