Description

The Pewag KWB Super Alloy Special Master Link T is a heavy-duty, enlarged Grade 8 (G8) lifting master link designed for professional chain sling assembly and demanding lifting operations. Manufactured from premium Super Alloy steel, this robust master link provides a secure and certified connection point between crane hooks and multi-leg chain sling systems.

Engineered to meet the essential safety requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the Special Master Link T is intended for incorporation into lifting accessories and must be used in accordance with the official operating manual and national lifting regulations.

With a Working Load Limit (WLL) from 2,300kg up to 60,000kg (0°–45°) depending on size, this enlarged master link is ideal for heavy industrial lifting applications including construction, engineering, manufacturing, steel fabrication and mechanical handling environments across the UK.

The enlarged internal dimensions of the Special Master Link T allow improved compatibility with larger crane hooks and lifting attachment points, offering increased flexibility compared to standard master links. It is specifically designed for use with:

KWB Super Alloy Grade 8 chains
Connecting links
Lifting hooks
Approved chain sling components

Only two chain legs may be directly attached to one Special Master Link T. The link must always move freely and align correctly with the direction of the load to ensure safe operation.

Manufactured with a static test coefficient of 2.5 and a safety factor of 4:1, the Special Master Link T provides dependable strength under controlled lifting conditions. The permissible operating temperature range is -40°C to +200°C, making it suitable for outdoor worksites, cold storage facilities and general industrial environments.

For operations involving wire rope slings, the stated Working Load Limit applies with safety factor 4. The load must always act in the longitudinal direction and within the plane of the link, with chain leg inclination angles not exceeding 60°.

Safety & User Instructions
The Pewag KWB Special Master Link T must only be assembled and used by competent, trained personnel experienced in lifting and rigging operations.
Before Each Use:
– Inspect for cracks, deformation, corrosion or excessive wear.
– Ensure markings and WLL identification are clearly legible.
– Confirm compatibility with all sling components.
– Verify correct alignment with load direction.

Operating Requirements:
Maximum chain leg inclination angle: 60°
Load must act longitudinally within the plane of the link.
Avoid shock loading or impact forces.
Apply load smoothly without sudden acceleration.
Temperature reduction factors apply:
200°C–300°C: reduction factor 0.9
300°C–400°C: reduction factor 0.75
Use below -40°C or above 400°C is strictly forbidden.
This product must not be used for:
– Lifting persons
– Offshore lifting activities
– Molten metals or nuclear materials
– Food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical environments
– Explosion-protected zones
– Exposure to aggressive acids or corrosive chemicals
– Transverse loading, flexural loading, welding, drilling, heat treatment or surface treatments such as hot galvanising are strictly prohibited.

Maintenance, Inspection & Storage
Clean regularly and protect against corrosion with light oil.
Inspect before each use in a clean condition.
Annual inspection by a competent person is mandatory (shorter intervals required under heavy use).
Crack testing recommended every two years.
Remove from service immediately if cracks, deformation, heat damage or dimensional change beyond ±10% is detected.
Repairs may only be performed by a qualified person; welding or straightening is not permitted.
Store in a clean, dry, corrosion-protected environment.

The overall Working Load Limit of the sling assembly is determined by the weakest component within the system. The final lifting accessory must be declared in conformity with Directive 2006/42/EC before being put into service.
