Description
The Pewag KWB Master Link A is a premium quality Grade 8 (G8) Super Alloy lifting master link engineered for professional lifting, rigging and chain sling assembly applications. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, this high-performance master link delivers exceptional strength, durability and safety in demanding industrial environments.
Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel and subjected to strict quality control procedures, the Pewag KWB Master Link A is purpose-built for assembling 1-leg and 2-leg chain slings, providing a secure connection point between lifting chains and crane hooks or load attachment points. It may also be used with compatible wire rope slings where specified.
With a Working Load Limit (WLL) ranging from 2,300kg up to 60,000kg (0°45°) depending on size, this master link offers reliable lifting performance across construction sites, heavy engineering projects, fabrication workshops, offshore preparation environments (excluding active offshore lifting), and industrial maintenance operations.
The link is designed so that load forces act in the longitudinal direction and within the plane of the link. For optimum safety and performance, chain leg inclination angles must not exceed 60°. The static test coefficient is 2.5, with a built-in safety factor of 4:1, ensuring dependable lifting under controlled conditions.
Thanks to its Super Alloy construction, the master link operates within an approved temperature range of -40°C to +200°C, making it suitable for cold storage facilities, outdoor construction work and high-temperature industrial environments (with reduction factors applicable above 200°C).
The Pewag KWB Master Link A integrates seamlessly with:
KWB Super Alloy chains
Connecting links
Lifting hooks
Approved Grade 8 chain sling components
Only two chain legs may be attached directly into one master link, ensuring controlled load distribution and compliance with lifting regulations.
Operating Conditions:
Maximum chain leg inclination: 60°.
Avoid shock loading or impact loading.
Load must be applied smoothly without sudden force.
Reduce WLL where temperature exceeds 200°C:
200°C300°C: reduction factor 0.9
300°C400°C: reduction factor 0.75
Use below -40°C or above 400°C is strictly prohibited.
Not suitable for lifting persons, molten metals, nuclear materials, food, pharmaceuticals or use in explosion-protected areas.
Maintenance & Inspection:
Clean regularly and lightly oil to prevent corrosion.
Annual inspection by a competent person required (more frequently in severe conditions).
Crack testing recommended every two years.
Remove from service immediately if deformation, cracking or excessive wear (>10% dimensional change) is detected.
Welding, heat treatment or mechanical alteration is strictly prohibited.
The final lifting assembly must comply fully with EU regulations before being put into service.
