Description
The Pewag KWB Special Sub-Assembly TG is a high-performance Grade 8 (G8) Super Alloy head master link assembly featuring an integrated A-link transition design, specifically developed for professional 3-leg and 4-leg chain sling assemblies. Engineered for heavy-duty lifting and rigging applications, this specialist sub-assembly provides enhanced flexibility and efficient sling configuration in industrial environments.
Manufactured from premium Super Alloy steel, the Special Sub-Assembly TG meets the essential safety and health requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and is intended for incorporation into certified lifting accessories. It must only be used in accordance with the official operating manual and current UK lifting regulations.
With a Working Load Limit (WLL) from 3,150kg up to 20,500kg (0°45°) depending on chain size (7mm to 16mm), this sub-assembly is ideal for construction sites, steel fabrication workshops, mechanical handling operations, plant maintenance and general industrial lifting tasks.
Enhanced Design with A-Link Functionality
A key advantage of the Special Sub-Assembly TG is its integrated A-link configuration, which enables shortening hooks to be attached directly to transition links using connecting links. This provides improved adaptability when adjusting chain sling lengths and enhances operational efficiency on site.
The TG sub-assembly functions as the head master link in multi-leg chain slings, connecting the sling assembly securely to the crane hook. It can also be attached to compatible wire rope slings where required.
Each ring within the assembly must move freely and align in the direction of the applied load. A maximum of two chain legs per small link is permitted to ensure safe load distribution.
Manufactured with a static test coefficient of 2.5 x the Working Load Limit of each sling section and a 4:1 safety factor, the TG Special Sub-Assembly delivers dependable strength and durability under controlled lifting conditions.
The approved operating temperature range is -40°C to +200°C, making it suitable for demanding UK industrial environments, including outdoor and cold-weather applications.
Safety & User Instructions
The Pewag KWB Special Sub-Assembly TG must only be assembled and used by competent, qualified personnel experienced in lifting operations.
Before Each Use:
– Inspect for cracks, deformation, corrosion or excessive wear.
– Ensure WLL identification markings remain legible.
– Confirm compatibility with correct chain diameter (e.g. TG 10.8 for 10mm chain).
– Check all rings move freely and align with the load direction.
Operating Conditions:
– Load must act longitudinally within the plane of the link.
– Maximum chain leg inclination angle: 60°
– Avoid shock loading and sudden impact forces.
– Apply load smoothly during lifting and lowering operations.
Temperature reduction factors apply:
– 200°C300°C: reduction factor 0.9
– 300°C400°C: reduction factor 0.75
– Use below -40°C or above 400°C is strictly prohibited.
Not suitable for:
Lifting persons
Offshore lifting activities
Molten metals or nuclear materials
Food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical industries
Explosion-protected environments
Exposure to aggressive acids or chemicals
Transverse or flexural loading
The overall Working Load Limit of the sling assembly is determined by the weakest component within the system.
Maintenance, Inspection & Storage
Clean regularly and lightly oil to protect against corrosion.
Inspect before each use in a clean condition.
Annual inspection by a competent person is mandatory (shorter intervals required under intensive use).
Crack testing recommended every two years.
Remove from service immediately if deformation, cracks, heat damage or dimensional change beyond ±10% is identified.
Welding, heat treatment, straightening or modification is strictly prohibited.
Store in a clean, dry and corrosion-protected environment.
The final lifting accessory incorporating the TG Special Sub-Assembly must be declared in conformity with Directive 2006/42/EC before being placed into service.
